No I'm not growing Eureka lemon but I have known many people that have and they do fine.my grandmother had one in Orlando for many years.the freeze of 89 killed it

The pink variegated lemon is a Eureka. Mine does good here. Mine is potted so in the gh for the winter. Meyer lemons are supposed to be more hardy. Also Taichang and Ichang lemons are good to the teens and 20's respectively.

I have one I planted by an orange tree. It blooms all the time but so far all the fruit fall off prematurely. I grew it in a pot all winter and planted it in the ground early spring. My plan right now is to knock off the flowers so that the more energy is used for root development.

I have many seeds from lemons, but have yet to plant to see if they will grow. A former neighbor of mine has a lovely lemon in a big container pot, the tree is almost 5 feet tall now, but for all her trying, it has never bloomed. We tried a few things in the years I lived there to coax it along, but no luck at all. She was very frustrated with it, upset that she wasn't getting lemons to use for her kitchen, so much so, that I finally told her I though she may just have a "boy" lemon, and should probably plant a couple more seeds to try for a "girl" lemon......

I'd like to know if anyone has ever found success with Eurekas. My plant is still growing but last winter the freeze knocked it back to the ground. It's grown a lot and I've been covering it all winter. Haven't seen a flower in over a year on it.

We’ve had some success with Eureka in Fl. Bearrs and Meyer out produce Eureka in our experience but Eureka looks and tastes the most like store bought. The tree is is a strong grower and seems to be able to live and produce with citrus greening.

I grow a grafted lemon variety called Harvey n North FLA (just north of Gainesville) and it is now about 12 ft tall and ten feet wide. This is also used as a commercial lemon, much the same as eureka. This variety was recommended by the previous owners at JFE as it is supposed to be very cold hardy, down to 16 degrees. and it is currently loaded with various sized lemons.They are reaching maturity and keep most green color during most of the year. In late winter ripe lemons turn yellow and look just like the store bought. Winters here are fairly dry and much colder and those two factors are the cause of the reduced juice content, extra acidic content and thicker rind also due to more temperature differential tween night and day. BTW southwest FLA is 9B zone?
