Cucumbers are dying

I planted 4 cucumber seedlings in a container with some lettuce and kale. For over a month they seems to be doing really well. Then they went uniformly yellow (around the time they started flowering)--so I started mixing used coffee grounds into the soil to increase the nitrogen. 2 weeks later the lower leaves are looking quite sick: first they get brown and white marks, then they shrivel up and die.

This is my first attempt at gardening and I realize now that I crowded the plants and only gave them about 7" of medium.

2 plants from the same seedling pack were panted weeks later in a different container and are thriving. They are receiving the same light but have more space and more medium.

Any hope for the sick plants?
