Need help for my dining room
I'm looking for advice on how to complete the look in my dining room and living room. I hired a designer who basically completed half the job. The walls have been painted walls - accent wall in dining room is a deep purple (eggplant), and other walls are more neutral (light grey) and living room is a pale blue. I've changed the upholstery on the dining room chairs as well as the lighting fixture. The dining room is also connected to my living room through an arched doorway and I'm trying to figure out how to connect the two rooms. Sorry about the clutter and baby gear in photos! Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks!!

10 years agolast modified: 10 years agoUse the trunk as a console for the TV. Lower the TV so it's about 5 inches above the trunk.
A Lucite coffee table or one with legs would make the room lighter and airier. The trunk is nice but it's like a black hole in the middle of the light sofa and rug.

PRO10 years agoAdd an area rug in dining room and some lights and a large piece of art on the blank wall in living room also add some pillows coordinating with an Art to add color to the space.

While I love eggplant as a color it doesn't work so well with your dark china cabinet. Cabinet just melts into the wall. You could try removing the hutch top from the cabinet and use just the base as a buffet. Add a large framed print over the buffet. Something with lighter colors that will work with both the blue and the eggplant. Also, you need something to lend a little modern help to your new light. Too much Queen Ann going on.

A floor lamp for the area to the left of the sofa would give light and fill the corner.
