How about another shade of blue? Perhaps something in the sky blue family from the botanicals above the read sofa. Or maybe the bright blue from your "HOPE" piece.

I'd like to see the matching pillows on the red sofa separated. Maybe put one on the blue sofa and add one with coral and aqua.

I'm not sure that the rosy tones of on the area rug do the best job of uniting the navy chesty and coral (?) sofa. Have you consider a natural sea grass or jute rug? They can be layered with with other rugs for an interesting look.

You might also consider two coffee tables - one to serve each sofa. The one you have now doesn't appear to serve either sofa very well as it's too far away. The below is good illustration of the idea:

I really like the coffee table idea and the natural rug suggestion! Admittedly the Stark floral rug wasn't my first choice, it is one of many things that I've inherited over the years that I can't bring myself to get rid of. And you are right It does not bring the chesterfield and pinkish sofa together as well as I had hoped. It's so challenging to incorporate random pieces and make them work. Ugh. Total design challenge.

Another perspective.

You could pull both sofas a little bit forward, so that their front feet are on the rug. I do like the idea of two coffee tables, although I'm also thinking that you'd create two separate spaces then in stead of one cosy living space. But it could just be in my mind?

If you pull the sofas forward you'd probably have to turn the chairs a bit more inwards (does that make sense? I'm not English, so you know... sometimes struggling a bit to find the right words)

The Adler pillow is beautiful. Goes perfectly with your artwork. Not too sure that it goes with your rug, but ah well... that's eclectic for you ;-) If you love it, you've got to have it.

Why not just add long bench? Low profile so don't hid fireplace. Maybe in red

These are really fabulous ideas!! Carolins, thank you for photoshopping the pillow in. It's so fantastic!!! Maybe I'll replace the rug sooner rather later. It seems to be the source of my design troubles and a stumbling block in this room. I just found some relatively inexpensive light blue velvet pillows at West Elm that may work as the "back layer" of pillows on my pinkish sofa. Thoughts? Too plain? Too cheap looking? :)

You know what the problem is here, we can't trust the colours on computer screens and the photos. To me, in the photos your sofa looks more orangey red than pinkish red. So... trust your own judgement. You have great taste.

Gee thanks! ; ) I took your advice and moved both sofas in a few inches onto the carpet. I also repositioned the chairs. What an improvement! The coffee table is now within reach and look less isolated. It really ties the room together in a cozy way. It was such a simple and easy change and it made a huge difference. Great advice! I'll post another picture soon as the room evolves. I'm off to order stools and pillows now. Thank you!! : )

Yes, I've been browsing the kilims at Overstock.com! Their prices are very reasonable. I haven't been able to locate a sisal rug that is big enough for the space. The largest I've seen is 9 x 12 ft. I'll keep searching....
