    These are tongue in groove Southern yellow pine so it is toe nailed at the tongue just like flooring.

    what are the railings made of in this photo and how are they attached to the colums

    We have done it a couple ways. You can put a clip on the column if it is wood if it fiberglass you can cut a rectangular opening to receive the top rail and bottom rail which tie to the 4 x 4 inside the column.
