A flush ceiling mount outside, or a single light at the right of the door will better avoid a visual conflict in the evening. Since your interior style appears in conflict with the exterior, you could also skip the interior pendant, and use another method for that. Frankly.... I like a lower light in an entry via a lamp on a welcoming console if there's room, especially if the entry isn't grand. And you've already got LOTS going on inside : )

It's funny, we actually don't have *that* much going on inside because we have basically no furniture. The parlor floor and exterior of the house are the "flashy" parts of the house but the rest of it is pretty average- this isn't even considered a high end reno by NYC standards!

Back to the point, I agree about the exterior or flush mount. A flush didn't even occur to me for some reason!

Not a pendant inside if you are going to have one outside, also find one that will compliment the style and era of the house ,unless you have done a total up grade inside .
