have you considered a stainless backsplash

Look at some pictures of dark cabinets with light color subway tiles. My kitchen is similar to yours and that's what I'm considering

Personally I think that backsplash detracts from the beautiful granite and cabinets. I would go more subtle.

Can you post photos of the hood tile and the countertops.

The best material in this case would be a honed limestone. It is subtle in color, but is a natrual material that will flow with the other natural materials in the room (wood cabinets, granite, etc.) It will look timeless yet not stand out too much as to compete with the other elements.

Whatever you do, and this is just my opinion, I'd remove the 4" backsplash that was installed with your countertops. Don't stack on top of it

I agress. Must remove that existing backsplash with whatever material you choose. This is a photo of a limestone I did but in small pieces with glass inserts as an example.

Thanks, I hadn't considered removing the 4" backsplash but it makes all the sense.
