I'd have to remove that bar. Maybe biased since we don't drink. But I just can't see myself or guests wanting to sit or stand at one???

I could imagine keeping the cabinets behind it if they are useful. But I'm not a fan of the wood color or style. I'd be inclined to take them out also and find a piece of furniture for the space instead.

I'd probably paint the door under the stairs to match the white trim.

I forgot to add that we do not drink and on the other side of the bar there is a small sink with running water that I think will be difficult to remove

You can remove the sink just call a qualified plumber. They can advise you- estimates are free. That is your first step if you want to remove the bar.

Really? That's a foyer? How big is the area? Is it open to the LR? I imagine removing the entire thing will cause issues with the floor. If budget is not a problem, then that's your answer. If budget is an issue, let's think of a way to re-purpose it!
Make it stop screaming BAR!
1- Remove the brass foot rail.
2- It looks like the top is a proper bar top with a ledge. Remove that if you can.
Do you like books & bookcases?
3- I'm remembering book case room dividers old houses used to have with glass doors.Maybe the upper cabinet doors and be used to front the island unit, having a carpenter add shelves and glass to the doors. Leave the wall unit as open book shelves.
Do you like plants?
4- You have a very nice potting area with a sink already plumbed. It's your home & anything you love will make more sense than a liquor bar you hate!

I believe you paint anything you'd like to disappear the same color as the surrounding wall. So, I would definitely paint out the small door you don't like. Of course, that is another cabinet door so you might need it elsewhere and it's an easy job to put a smooth, plain door on that opening (what is it anyway?). I love your gigantic blue agate!!!

Remove the whole bar completely. It has no reason to be in a Foyer. I'll bet the tile is continuous under the bar. That should not be an issue. The baseboard will have to be replaced as it looks like it is cut at the bar. Sell it on Ebay.

What about the plumbing in the floor?

You need a plumber to remove the fixture and cap the piping beneath any wall or floor finish.

Is the sink on the bar section up against the wall? If so, all of the plumbing is in the wall.
If the sink is in front portion of the bar, then a real good flooring contractor, not the cheap floor contractor, may be able to take out the tile and replace it with a full matching tile. If not, fill the hole in the tile flush and then get an area rug.

Thank you pattiegoode I like the idea of repurpose it ,I can change the back and convert it in a nice bookcase, because to remove the bar I has to redo de floor because I check the plumbiing is coming from the flloor,what about painting it?

Is it open to your LR? If so, please post a pic of that room. I wouldn't hesitate to paint the cabinets, but that's just me! lol Here's where my mind went, but without seeing the front door and the open room, I don't how to advise further:

For the floor you can always borrow a tile from a closet....just a thought

Ok.so we decide to keep it,because need 8 tiles Kelly and I have to replace the whole floor that is very nice.We will take the foot rail and modify the back cabinets with glass door but I do not know what color to paint the cabinets and bar. Need help with the color for them. Pattiegoode here are 2 more pic taken from the bar area to the opening that go to family room and living room

Wow. How much are you really willing to do and what is your budget? :) I'd suggest you find someone locally that can advise you if you want to really "fix" your foyer. Beyond my previous comments re: converting the bar to a mini-library, consider closing in the LR pass-through so that the wall is solid again. I would bet that a guy opened that up so he could see a football game on tv while he mixed drinks for his friends. lol A good carpenter could add columns - if that is a look that you like: one connecting the bar to the ceiling and one that looks like it holds up the ceiling at the corner of the LR wall (only if these two are the same distance from the front door). Looks like you have white trim, so that would be my first color preference for the columns and if you want the entire library/ bookcase painted out. I'd also think about extending the bar-area back cabinet all the way to the ceiling when you convert it. Have you thought about adding crown molding to the foyer? I like the round tole-painted tray on the wall and your dog, too!
