Can you please expand on your suggestion of powder coating? How/where do I get that done?

I looked on the Modernaire website, didn't see where I could have the hood style I like in black..? Plus, those hoods look like they might be overkill for what I need.

Any other thoughts from anyone?

Just find a powder coating service in your area and ask for a ballpark figure for what you'd like done. Then decide whether it's worth getting the hood you want and having it done or going with a hood that may not be exactly what you want that is already black. Google your area for powder coating services.
