Sorry...just realized you were asking about greys & not blue. I just went through this last weekend & bought five grey samples & tested them out & I'm glad I did because I could not tell by looking at the little paper swatches! I thought paper white & sterling were nice pale shades, but I abandoned them for the blues I mentioned above bc I wanted a different color altogether bc my room did not have enough light.

Depending on the grey of the couch (blue grey, warm gray, silvery, etc.), I like BM Classic Gray - it is a very pale, neutral gray.

Any advice re ceiling and trim color? I've always done a basic white.

Shal75 the only color you mentioned that I could find on the BM color wheel was paper white. Are the others BM colors? My color wheel is pretty old and I don't know how often they update them.

I love Classic Gray with Simply White for trim and ceiling. Very soft. A great background for both grays or blues. I am not familiar with paper white. Is there a way you can paint large samples on several walls. The paint will look different in different lights. You want what you are most comfortable with.

Buy the sofa first. Gray has many variations.

Paper white is very subtle - mostly white with a hint of grey. Yup, all the colors I mentioned are BM. Re: ceiling, I like super white & ceiling white. For trim color, I've heard good things about simply white but haven't yet tried it - I will in a couple of days.
