There is a window behind the chair. All the other walls are quite small.

I saw in the mirror off-white built-ins.... if your style is a bit feminine maybe you could have distressed antique white frames, or a crazy mix of empty frames in colors. Go for the gallery if you have enough. Might be easier to find canvas art at Home Goods....

The magazine gallery wall idea is actually what I was thinking too but was worried with the placement of my desk, it would affect the overall look of the gallery. Do I treat the wall as one and ignore the desk when I'm deciding on placement?

You mentioned that there is no door to the room what area does the open side address?

It's the first wall people see when they enter our home

And it flows into the living/family room.

I suggest..since the mirror is reflecting cabinetry on the one side that you make a layered abstract using painted wood in the base color (white?) of the room.

Something akin to this image but painted letting the brown peek through the intentional gaps. Weathered or drift wood would work too. Less clutter to the eye and it will make wonderful shadowing.

Move the desk so that the chair is against the feature wall. The contrast will highlight the chair and desk design, and the chair position will let you see out the window. Two generously-sized pieces of art/photography will complete the wall.

Not saying this style or color, but if you like modern for that wall. Lucidos' reminded me of this... I see you already painted, sorry.... just idea for texture... 3-D.

You asked about your gallery wall with desk where it's currently - I don't see a problem with that [see D.wearsPrada post!].

If the accent wall is the first thing seen upon entering I wouldn't place a desk there -- might seem too like a business! Entire wall filled was a nice idea.

Michael's is having a buy 1 get 2nd free for frames, fyi. Not high quality but adequate.

Gallery walls drive me crazy. So many people do them so wrong. They end up looking busy and cluttered. I'd much prefer a single large peice of art OR 3 cohesive pieces of framed art. Much more classy and modern in my opinion.

I basically have to agree with Angela.... to share - this desk faces out instead!

A textured wall would be a great visual impact as you enter the home.

You could just put a stretched canvas on the wall for attention.

Now you've 'made' me curious - what does your house look like? You have several options. Maybe your house is full of art, and so you want instead some personal character of your interests or your work in this area..... maybe you have so much wood in beams etc. that you don't need any more texture in a whole-wall way .... ?

Take a look at Albert Koetsier poster art at Hobby Lobby. His x-ray images of flowers are really unique and would add a subtle hint of color to bring in the color of your accent wall. I took 3 of his long thin posters (can't remember the size - 15 x 36, I think) and framed them in very simple black frames with no matte. You could add a matte for additional color, though. I hung mine in a straight line and I love them! Not at home, or I'd send a photo.

We got our house not too long ago so I'm still in the process of furnishing it. It's more of a blank slate. I'll include some additional photos of the room prior to the work I did. The built in shelving was done recently due to a book in the room.

I have a chair that I bought that I'm waiting for that will go with the writing desk. For curtains, I'm thinking a lavender color which should be a nice backdrop for the patterned chair.

I would love to incorporate the mirror on the wall but it looks so blank with just that one mirror. Any advice?
