Traditional set of stairs is probably out of the question, if you want to maintain a minimal footprint, and very exspensive to incorporate as a after thought. Elevator, or firepole & climbing rope :) Probably replace it with a more traditional spiral design

I'm tending to agree with Yarbro Home Improvement. When someone designs and installs spiral stairs, it's usually to minimize the footprint, but they do tend to look more contemporary. You might have to decide to increase the size of the footprint and put in a traditional staircase, or find a more traditional looking spiral. You'll have to decide what's more important. Chrysteen

They make all-wood spirals. One of those would probably look good in your home.

Yeah, we considered the fireman's pole, but our soccer playing daughter would be the only one to be able to get upstairs. Even getting down would be ugly for most of us. I started looking at wooden spirals online today. They are pricey, but might work. Thanks everyone!
