Potassium nitrate foliage spray on mango tree.

My mango tree didn't grow at all for 6 months. I sprayed the leaves with a high concentration of potassium nitrate. It burnt the leaves but the tree started growing again. I want to spray it again after the new leaves harden. Has anyone done this to make their mango tree grow faster?
