I am building a home and we are placing distressed hickory hardwood on floors. We now need a tread to match. The hickory has some black in it. However, the paint store is having a difficult time coming up with just the right match. What are your thoughts on going with an ebony stain on oak treads and hand rail? They tried hickory tread and could not come up with the right match.
