I really like the light fixtures you've chosen but I think it's going to look too crowed with one on each side. Is there any way you can have something installed over the door instead? Even recessed? That would light the house numbers as well.

Adorable home! I like how it looks with one. Everything is asymmetrical anyway. Sconces look best with several inches of breathing room, and I'm not sure a 60 watt candelabra bulb will provide enough light.

The light does seem out of proportion to the mailbox. In addition to a bigger light, what about installing some solar landscape lighting along the path and/or a light on a pole?

Also if you can, you might want to play with the placement of the bigger light and mailbox. I would start by placing the light higher and the mailbox lower. It might be nice too if those two items looked more similar, in size, color and style. Do you have other options for the mailbox?

Love the fixture you've chosen. I would choose the 2-light model and install on one side. Is it possible to put recessed lighting in your soffit?

Thanks again! We actually have some solar powered lights and some other landscaping lighting in the bushes. I'm leaning towards the two light fixture on the one side. I like the idea of placing the light higher, and will look into lowering the mailbox. Thanks!

I like the one you've chosen but think definitely go with the larger version which is only 17"h anyway. In looking at what appears to be the mounting screw that's visible through the glass, it seems like more of the fixture will be above that mounting than your existing fixture. That means that raising it will likely not be necessary, (and would be a hassle).

It looks ok to me from the pic, but that is a weird perspective. I like that the new light more closely matches the size of the mailbox.

In general, I look for a grid for alignment. The top of the light looks like it almost aligns with the top of the trim. It's ok if it aligns with the bottom of the trim. It is probably ok wherever it is. The top of the mailbox I originally thought should be lower. If it's easy to temporarily remove the mailbox, I'd try it top aligned with the top of the trim, or the bottom of the trim. Or 2/3 overlap could be ok. Then you have the flag. So I would just play with the mailbox position so you have the right amount of space for the 3 items.

In your original pics, it looks like the light and the mailbox are in the right places. The new light appears to be in exactly the same spot at the bottom but higher at the top. is it just that much bigger than the old one? Can you take a pic from this perspective?

Are you planning to switch out the Edison bulbs? Because they sure aren't going to make enough light for you to see who's at the door.

I don't think you need to move the light.

Check with the Post Office before moving the mailbox. I'm not sure about the ones attached to houses but I know mailboxes on posts need to fall within a specific range.
