Thanks for the input guys. What do you suggest I do with the spare room I was going to use as my bedroom then? I already have an office. And I read that using a guest room is kind of a waste of space. Thanks.

Our spare bedroom has a sofa bed in it, should guests suddenly appear at the door. It also has a cool stereo system, stacks of CDs and LPs, and the better half's dumbbells, gym mat, and assorted other torture equipment.

Possible uses for guest room:

An actual live guest ?

A place to go if the girl snores ?

A place for HER to go if you snore ?

A place for a guy friend to go with his girlfriend...............

Your mom will come and visit?

A hurricane room?

Dark/moody/cozy wine-cocktails/cards/jazz/library/etc. lounge.

Dan, if this room has an attached bath then it's probably meant to be the master. Can we see a floor plan of your entire place?

This room with the small bathroom is an addition that was added some years ago prior to me purchasing it. The original plan of this house (2 bedroom/1 bath) has the master bedroom with a detached full bathroom in the hallway. In other words, with this addition, the house is now a 3 bed/2 bath house.

You will want the decor to be consistent with the rest of the home. For example, if you have a nautical color scheme, the walls in the above photo could be changed to navy and furniture/artwork/accessories could be adjusted accordingly.
