clearance above cooktop

Hello,
We are interested in this island hood, but would like to check that this hood will allow for a clearance between the cooktop and the hood of 32", where the total distance between the cooktop and ceiling is 60". Will this product work? The specification description toward the bottom of the page states that the distance ranges from 28-32". Does that mean the assembled height of hood is adjustable? Because in the first the size description, the height of the product is listed at 39.2", which would make the clearance between cooktop and hood only 20", but we need 32". Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
