This deck is made with Ipe wood and it has been oiled to bring out the rich color.

jcanter you can't go wrong with Ipe. It's the lowest maintenance natural wood deck available in the market. The wood sinks in water from it's density and its so strong it can span 16" on center for a 3/4" (nominal) board. Maintenance is minimal. Cleaning it as needed with mild soap and water like it was your kitchen floor. To keep the color a coat of Ipe Oil once a year will bring back its brown tones.

Is the cost comparable to a trek product?

jcanter, depending on the dimension of your decking, it can be comparable or more cost effective than composite products. However, Ipe will give you much longer lifespan than any composites.
