Motion Sensing Fixture

last modified: 10 years ago

I have an ordinary motion sensing fixture that probably came from Home Depot a few years ago. More recently it seems that the right bulb burns out more frequently that the left. For a while I used halogen bulbs, then an LED (Cree brand), then back to halogen. Other than the bulb burning out, the fixture works fine.

It doesn't seem to me that it couldn't be a voltage issue, since both the left and right sockets should be connected internally. About the only thing that comes to mind, and I haven't checked it yet, is the tab at the bottom of the socket. Perhaps it's not making good contact and is arcing causing excessive heat???

Any thoughts?
