Help with repotting and identifying

When my grandma passed away I said I would take some of her cacti, but now I have no idea how to help them thrive. I really know nothing about them. I know I will need to plant them in bigger pots but I don't know where to start or how to go about doing it. Does the size of the new pots matter? I have no idea what type of cacti they are either.

This one obviously have roots growing out the side of one part. So if I repot this, what do I do? Does that part need to be put in the soil? Do I cut something off?

The second one is sprawling out everywhere, but a good chunk of it looks wrinkly, soft, and discolored. The part closest to the pot looks the worst, but then there's new growth starting all over the place.

Any tips and tricks will definitely be appreciated! I'd love to make them thrive and continue to have something that was my grandma's. Thank you!
