Has it been rained on. I think you have had a few storms. That would be ok. I still would water it. Are your temps high? A week in the sun and no water probably let it heal. When I transplant, cut or trim I leave my trees out of the sun for several days. They get shocked by things we do to them.

This plant particularly is very resilient, I use to babysit my plants a little, we are in winter now, but is a 30C winter haha... This week was sunny, I'm planning to water on Monday or Tuesday, what do you think? Maybe the change of medium is shocking the plant too

It's a normal reaction to being repotted, Cynthia. You can water it tomorrow. I actually water right away or, if I remember, I soak my substrate overnight before repotting so it's wet when I use it. As long as it's warm, it'll be fine.

I just saw this pics, Nice looks good to me. How is it after you watered? In a few month after the blooming period are you going to shape it for more branches and flowers? A lot of people here like the natural look too.

I've planned to water yesterday, then I saw the weather report and said low temperatures and cloudy for today 6C to12C, so decided to wait till weather change again, maybe on Wednesday.

I would only hold off if it was to be lower then 10c or below. Just a little water will do. It is hard to think you are in winter

Adeniums should generally be protected from temperatures below 16C at night (obviously assuming that day temperatures are higher). Established adult plants will do alright with night temps just above 6C but if and only if (or IFF, if I am being sentimental) they are kept dry the whole time. By "established adult plants" I mean adeniums that are over 2 years old and have been undisturbed in their pots for at least two seasons.

If you just repotted this plant, I hope it is indoors. Unless it is very warm and very dry inside your house (26C and above, humidity below 30%) or this plant is on a heat mat, do not water it at all. Wait a couple of weeks.

Marica, Pagan! Thank you for the advice, our weather is crazy but usually we don't have temps below 10C , I don't know what happens this year, I will wait, all my plants are indoor since yesterday, and all of them are thirsty, I feel the soil dry...hopefully next couple of weeks will be warmer...

Pagan, Do you not water at all in the winter? I thought it was just a lot less then the amount used for summer?

Hello again! I've checked the temperature indoor and it's 23C and they are in a very sunny window, sun is from 7am to 4 pm, so I did it! I water my plants this morning! The soil is nearly dry now, 5:45pm, so I think the water won't harm my plants, how long takes to caudex hardening again? Thank you!

Mine took 4 days after transplanting it. I watered it right after I transplanted. Let us know how long yours takes.

I do water active adeniums in winter (some of them go semi-dormant, I do not water those), maybe about once a month. If, on the other hand, I am repotting in winter which is what Cynthia just did, I would have placed the plant on top of a heated mat where I can make sure the soil temperature is never below 25C. Even then, I still would have waited a couple of weeks before watering. I have lost adeniums to sudden drops in night temperatures, cat attacks and even LED burn, but never to root rot.

Recovery and return to turgidity will depend entirely on ambient heat and how much the roots were disturbed. Anywhere from a week to a couple of months, especially if the taproot is injured.

I find it interesting that most people cut off the aboveground little roots. I find them unique so I have left mine so far

If mine don't reach into the soil I cut them off, I've also sliced off very thin ones that do go subterranean but it's just my own preference. One of mine has a small branch that's never leafed out for the past two years, I like the look of it so it's still there!

Did you put Elmers waterproof glue on the cut off above ground roots?

I didn't, but I put a fungicide and wait till dry 1 day before repot, now my baby is doing very well. I did bought the Elmer glue, but I didn't realize that is not waterproof... It's a miracle to find that product in my country, so I just bought without reading :(

I hate when in this day and age that everybody from all countries can't get the same products. Fungicide should help. I like the glue because it seems to make the wound look better later on.
