The first thing always tell my clients is the exhaust system for a 48” range is noisy and many$$$$ I run a catering biz from my kitchen and a 6 burner 36” range has never failed to be adequate and really how often are you going to use the griddle I would rather have one nice big oven than 2 weird sizes and if you need more ovens I have a double full sized wall oven they are electric but my Bertazzoni range is all gas with a vent-a-hood above that is very good at exhausting with noise for sure but not near as noisy as a commercial one that you would need for a 48’ range. As for Miele i don’t like their DW or W/D or vacuums so I think I would look at some better gas ranges in the same price range.

I absolutely LOVE my Miele dishwasher. Extremely quiet, very reliable, excellent cleaning, smart use of interior space. Can't speak to the range (though I recently toured the kitchen of a professional chef, and Miele was his range choice), but I completely agree with Patricia's assessment about the usefulness of a 48" range. In my kitchen (which cooks for 8 people nightly) double wall ovens offer ample cooking space. I can't keep an eye on more than 3 simmering pans at one time, so our 6 burner gas range top is plenty for me :)

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BUY THIS RANGE. We bought a brand new one almost 2 1/2 years ago for our new kitchen redo. We got the 48 inch one with the griddle attachment on top. OURS STILL DOES NOT WORK!!! Not only have the Miele people been out to our home at least 15 times in the last almost 3 years, but the griddle still does not work. We have talked to every customer service person, gas person, etc.. on the planet......still does not work. I have been over the top disappointed in the overall experience with Miele and this appliance that is quite frankly as expensive as a small automobile. The thing should be working and working well at this point. We are STILL in the middle of the situation with them out of corporate. DO NOT BUY THIS Range until they get their act together.

Any new reviews of this range? I am considering it for my kitchen remodel. I need a good 48" range and am considering Miele, Wolf, and Cornufe 110. Both Miele and Wolf have negative reviews... so hard to make a decision.

Probably to late with this info but we bought the miele and love it.. Bardzil, what did you end up with?

i still haven't bought anything but the time to make a decision is soon...

I bought the Miele with the broiler... I saved so much counter and cabinet space by having a 48inch oven.. I feel bad for those that had problems with their Miele... So far mine is great.. I've had mine for a year now... We'll see..

Lisa, I am replacing my 20 year-old Thermador with.... maybe..... the 48" Miele dual-fuel with digital programming. I cook for two families, 6 dinners a week. I've read several bad reviews and am getting cold feet. Your post encouraged me. Have you had to contact service at all? Everything works as well as the day you got it? Do you know anyone else who has had Miele 48" ranges? How often do you use it?

I want the range, but I'm not convinced they have all the bugs out. Any additional info will be appreciated.

I have had no problem with mine... I did have them come out to my home to check on the knob for the broiler... It had a weird feel to it. They came out with red carpet service.. Very pleased with phone conversation and the techs. They explained, the gas for the broiler has a longer travel time to ignite the area.. As I use it I can see how that works... I have never used gas before... Love it! I love the microwave.. Perfect for us. Love having the warmer.. Love having everything together to save space.. It is just my husband and I so not a ton of use but family gathering often. Went to a few cooking classes to learn about all the features that this stove has to offer which helped me to become more comfortable with it.. Pretty intimidating at first to use with all the digital programming.. Getting much easier as I use it.. With this high tech stove I will get a extended warranty.. Would love to know what you purchase... Sounds like the Thermador is a pretty good stove.. Maybe a newer model of those....

Can Miele sit flush to wall behind it? Trying to figure out how deep cabinets should be for flush installation?

@bardzil large ranges are typically 4" deeper vs standard cabinet depth. With any appliance, always consult installation instructions & specs before ordering appliances, cabinets & installing any electrical & gas. It will determine hood requirements & clearances also.

Mine does not fit flush to the wall.. I thought was odd.. I will do some decorative tile to help with that... I don't think the Miele is as deep as other large ovens.. I have standard size cabinets.. I would have had them made to fit around the stove better...

Lisa, how much deeper would you have made the cabinets? I'm trying to decide how deep to make my cabinets. I'm thinking 26.5" for the base cabinets around the range. However, not sure how far the range will actually stick out once installed.

Bardzil, my cabinets are the standard 24 in deep.. The stove is a inch from the back wall.. I would have made them deeper and even had a decorative trim on the sides.. So it sounds like the 26.5 would be good with trim.. The front of the cabinets and the stove look wonderful as it is, so no adjusting the stove for me... I have had my stove for a year and still learning all the features.. It really has a lot to offer and the best part is the space I'm saving with having all my appliances in one.. Let me know what you decide..

For those of you that have a Miele dual range 48, does the cooling fan bother you? I was playing around with one in a showroom today. Whenever I turned on either the microwave or oven function, the cooling fan immediately began blowing air out a vent at the top of the oven door. Reading the instruction manual, it seems the fan may be running quite often - upon initial start up, and then continue until it cools down below 180 degrees. I would think I would find this quite annoying. Is this fan on a majority of the time during use??

The fan is on during use and does blow air into the room.. At first this did bother me but used to it now.. By using the large fan above it clears the air quite nicely.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

It’s been a year since all of your posts. Are you still liking your range or are you having problems a year later?

I love the stove. I did have trouble with one of the gas burners and called for service.. They were out and replaced all the burners at no charge.. They had a upgrade with their newer stoves. I was talking with the service guy who works on all the high end appliances and said with this stove I have no worries and he rarely has service calls. Usage.... Love how everything is together.. I'm not taking up space in my kitchen. I use the warming drawer a lot and having two ovens I love!! Microwave is wonderful. It actually cooks differently than a standard microwave .. I can tell with the taste and the look of the food. I have not yet really used all the features it offers but they have cooking classes you can attend and will show you how to use them.. I went to one.. It was great!! I would like to go again... Tooooo busy.. I can not compare with the other large ranges for this is my first and very happy with my choice

Lisa Middlebrook would you be willing to share your range model number?

I have had mine 4 years now and it has been nothing but trouble. Have had techs come at least 20 times, replace burners and parts and still does not work! I barely use my range maybe once or twice a week and sometimes not even that. The microwave has issues multiple times. My grill has not worked for 80% of the time that I have had it. It ignites and shuts off within seconds. On the rare occasion that it does work, there is no difference between the high and low settings. Techs can’t explain it! What a waste of $15k. Stay clear of this purchase.

We have the 36" model and I agree they are very bad. Ignition for the burners doesn't work - the engineers are not trained (or polite) and Miele customer service seem affronted that you ask them for help.

At these premium prices these products are to be avoided.

Lisa, any update with your Miele Stove? or anyone else? If you did it again , would you do the wolf, or wall ovens? Thank you!

We just saw this range at a showroom and my husband is all-over it because of its "design engineering" and quality of the materials. He was ready to make a purchase. 🙄 I had initially wanted a cooktop and separate Speed Oven and regular wall oven. But when I saw this range which combines everything I want and a warming drawer, I was honestly intrigued too. My reservation is 1) we don't really need a 6-burner and a griddle, so a 48" range maybe an overkill even though we've the counter space for it. 2) I don't know the reliability and quality of the speed oven, is it working out for all of you? Im going to see if Miele has a 36" range comes with all the functions.

@modernfun Hi. I have the 4 burner Miele range (since 2018) and would not buy it again. I’ve had all the igniters replaced twice now. If you clean the stove top and even a drop of water touches the burner they break. It’s almost impossible to clean because of that. My cheap oven baked better than this one does. Does it look pretty? Yes. If you decide to get it make sure to get the 5 yr or longer warranty offered. I love their dishwashers so much I was sure their range would be just as good. I was sadly wrong.

Thank you SO much for sharing! This is very helpful!! I’m sorry you went through that! Unbelievable that water breaks a burner?! I’m considering induction technology, but worried even that will break! Thank you again.

I cannot believe what i am reading. if i am not mistaken, the miele gas range is BAD quality??!!

    the salespeople sing its praises.

are the ignitors faulty? water causes the stove to break? this is so crazy for such an expensive range. i have always been wary of Miele customer service. i tried to call thier help number to get info on their products and the guy we spoke to had no clue about anything. also we visited the miele experience center in SF (even made an appt) and the guy who helped us was kind of snooty.

i an really worried about reliability and customer service. should i avoid this range? if we dont get a miele we are probably getting a Lacanche (i know the two are very different). please share your experience good or bad with miele, especially their ranges.

Bad quality is putting it mildly. This range is also dangerous. I have had problems with $15+K range since day one. Two mother boards for speed oven were defective, 2 defective ignitors. Miele pro support told repair tech to switch the bad ignitors from the left side of the range with ones from the right. One of those bad ignitors literally caused a blast of flames to shoot out from the burner as I was adjusting it. By the grace of God, I turned away just in time. My face would have gotten burned if I did not. This just happened. I told Miele about it in an e mail yesterday, I am waiting for a reply. Kathy D.
