i have a really hard time with cilantro but i have discovered two things it likes being in a raised bed with regular water and it only grows here (south of houston) in cool weather so i will be replanting mine in november (probably) and i don't expect it to last through the first part of may this is one herb i would love to grow that i have really struggled with so i will be watching for more tips.....

My beds are raised and my garden gets regular water. Do you grow from seed or a seedling bought from a garden store? We've got mega-sun all day long. Maybe it's too much sun? If so I could find a less sunny spot somewhere.

The stuff grows like a weed - it would take over the whole garden if I let it. It reseeds itself easily. I put absolutely no effort into growing it, except maybe trying to keep the seed heads limited to falling back in the end of the bed where I want it. Yes, it is a raised bed, with decent soil, in full sun. I put very little - almost nothing - toward watering, except when there are very tiny plants growing (though it is usually starting out in more rainy seasons here in Z7 Virginia. I started this patch by just throwing the seeds on the ground, spread in the area where I wanted them. I'm not certain, but they may like a little light on the seeds to germinate. I try to keep the flower stalks cut back earlier in the process, but ultimately I let some go to flower and seed, and it reseeds just as it needs to for good growth, so I just let it go on its own.

I bolts in hot weather, so try growing it in a shady spot if it's hot. There are slow bolt varieties you can try. I grow it in a container so I can move it to a cooler location if need be. That's a 99 cent store plastic pot with holes in the bottom.
