Growing cilantro

Hello, I live a little north of Houston. There's a large portion of our yard that has sun all day long, so many years ago we created a small but successful herb and veggie kitchen garden, and protected citrus garden. All these years we've been able to grow potatoes, Brussels sprouts, lettuces, all kinds of herbs, lemon grass, onions, garlic, chives, rosemary, watermelon, Serrano peppers, lemon, lime, mandarin orange, etc. But the one herb that has tortured me is cilantro! Every time I have tried to grow cilantro it has died. I've tried buying a seedling from the garden store; I've tried growing from seed; nothing works. I have tried every season for about 10 years! It seems like I cook a meal at least twice a week that asks for cilantro and I hate having to buy it at the grocery store. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
