Also need help with this flapjack

I got this from the Home Depot sale stand. I repotted it in a porous soil and gave it a bit of water a few weeks ago. It's in sun in the am for a few hours then bright light. The pot has a drain hole in it as well. Thank you!!

I have never propagated this plant from leaves. I'm not saying it can't be done, but they pup so easily that I have never tried.

When K. luciae blooms, it get really tall. I mean like 4-5 foot tall. The flowers aren't flashy, but bees love them. This plant will die after blooming, but it leaves plenty of babies behind.

I started with 4 plants. They are the tall ones in this picture. See all of the pups around the base?

And babies will grow on the stem, too! Here is a look from the top and you can see pups on the stem and around the base.

Mine are planted outside, since I have mild winters. This is one section that I have filled with flapjacks. The arrow is actually where the left plant of the original 4 was located. My plants are greener in the wet summers and redder in the dry winters.

So, with this kind of success I didn't see the need to try to propagate from leaves.

This is one of my favorite plants! They pup well. It is Kalanchoe luciae, btw. Good for you on repotting and ensuring proper drainage.

I think most of the problem you are seeing happened before you purchased it. The outer leaves are quite etiolated, indicating that HD had it on display (or a shelf) that was shaded. This plant really thrives in full sun.

The center of your plant looks much better. Those long damaged leaves will be absorbed by the plant and fall off, leaving your the center to grow and give you a nice, compact plant.

Here is a look at the center of one of my pups. The leaves are growing up, not laying down. Your center leaves look similar to me.

And in full sun, you will get some great color!

Water your plant when the potting mix is dry. You can check it with a skewer, chopstick or even a pencil. Insert it into the mix, wait a minute or two, then remove it. If it comes out damp or cool (touch your cheek or back of your hand), then wait on watering.

If you can wean the plant into full sun you will have better results. Otherwise, give it the most sunlight available. Things will correct themselves in time.

Great! I have fallen in love with these guys!! What is the best way to propagate? I have several leaves from another one. Have them laying on soil but was t sure if the soil should be moist or totally dry. They are not in direct sunlight.

I can see that. I had one plant that did great in an east window. I cut off the top and replanted it for my niece. Doing great. It had small flowers coming out on the stem. Now I replanted it and it's struggling. There is new growth, pups etc but the pads are flimsy not nice and firm.

If the roots are good, maybe you are not watering it enough. You mentioned above that you gave that plant 'a bit of water' a few weeks ago. You should be watering deeply and well. Water should run out of the bottom of the pot and flush the potting mix of any built up salts. Then you let it dry. This helps build up a good roots system, too.

These are monocarpic plants - flowering plant dies after blooming. You said it had some flowers - maybe that's what is happening?

No never any flowers. Little pods or pups I think they called them coming from the stock.
