question about leveling firepit patio
Comments (0)my backyard has a gradual slope to it. I am installing a firepit in the back of the yard with a pea gravel seating area around it. I'm also using pavers around the outside of the seating area to frame it in and keep the gravel in place. the spot that I'm installing the pit slopes 12 inches from the high side to the low side. the entire area will be 20' across so it slopes 12'' over 20'. how important is it that the entire area is level? 2) how would you recommend I make the area level? should I put the high side down in the ground so you have to step into the pit or should I bring the low side up my stacking pavers or bringing in fill dirt? I appreciate any feedback....See MoreQuestion about wood vs. wood clad patio door
Comments (2)Thanks, calidesign, that's what I'm hoping (the look, without the problems). The salesperson cautioned me that the wood clad covering is very thin, so if it gets scratched the fiberglass would show through. We would stain/seal it, but I'm wondering if anyone has used this type of door and had issues with the wood clad covering scratching. Ways to prevent it? etc....See MoreQuestion about kitchen flooring

Comments (19)@calidesign, good idea. I'll have to start with the counter top. We've just decided to do the floors in wood - whether that be what is under the current tile (can't tell yet) or putting down new wood flooring. @mark_rachel, I do like the granite. It seems like the best choice for the money. Marble will get destroyed in our house. And you're right. I just may have to be more flexible with my cabinet colors... I originally wanted to do all white or all blueish grey, but my husband would paint the whole house in mardi gras colors is if he could. The contractor says he needs to have the countertop done first so he can work the backsplash from there. The painting will be done after everything else. So I guess I have time for that decision. Thanks, all... this is really helpful to me. I can see things and say 'I like that' or 'I'd do that a bit differently' but it's difficult for me to envision a total transformation. Keep it coming. I'll try posting more pictures....See MoreTribbletrouble44152k7 Trek
