I'm finally getting around to making a quilt I've been planning for months. It was originally a disappearing 9 patch. I made a similar one previously, making the 9 patch and then cut in 1/4ths. I had some problems with the "press to the dark side" where my seams didn't mesh.

I'm making it like the photo below. Is there any reason I shouldn't take 5 inch wide white strips, attach a strip of blue, press and then cut into 2 1/2 inch strips? It would save dealing with all the little blue pieces, I think.

Is there any reason that it wouldn't work?
