It depends on your house. If you have used oil rubbed bronze, for instance, on your kitchen cupboards or as a faucet, then it would look nice to have the same finish on your window hardware. It's nice to be consistent throughout the house, so have you used oil rubbed bronze in other things like light fixtures, etc.? There's not a blanket yes/no answer for your question. It's dependent on your taste and what your house looks like. I think it adds a nice custom-looking touch but it does draw attention. Are the windows very special or builder quality? If the windows should have attention drawn to them, then yes I would say make a statement with the hardware.

i have oil rubbed bronze hardware in my kitchens but stuck with white spoon style hardware and handles on windows throughout the house. kitchen hardware may come and go but i know the inside of my windows will be white forever. perhaps i would have made a different decision if it was just latches, but since my windows are large and have handles as well, white was the choice.

(also, now i can repaint the windows without worrying about removing or masking the hardware, just 'being careful' will be enough.)

I have decided on white as well. We are putting in Marvin Integrity windows. The great thing is I have found many beautiful latches on line so if i change my mind this will be a source for change. The prices of the latches sold online are much better than the prices from the window maker. Thanks for your imput... much appreciated :)
