Back splash help

The floor is new, I can't afford new cabinets or countertops at this time, but I'm looking to put in a different back splash. Any ideas? The counter top is actually a light green.

Can you post a better pic of counter top?

Don't do this piecemeal it will end up looking like a quilt.

Your backsplash now has the dreaded 4 inch backsplash out of your counter material. If you tried to replace just the backsplash I'm afraid you'd get into trouble trying to remove just the 4" section and end up with a mess. You don't want to redo the backsplash and leave the 4" so don't do any of it until you can afford to do counters and backsplash all at once.

Here's a closer look at the counter top...

The backsplash sample in the pic isn't bad. It does tie floor & cabinet colors together.

A kitchen has 5 elements, floor, counter, backsplash, cabinets and walls. You can't choose one without taking into consideration the others. Can you show a wider angle of the kitchen?

Are the floors grey? It's hard to tell. Are you planning to change the warm wood cabinets anytime soon? A grey backsplash is not going to look good with your counters or cabinets.

I think a simple white subway tile would look fine--and not be expensive enough to make you not want to mess with them when you get around to doing the counters and the cabinets.

Hi Sandy, so I don't really have a wider angle, there not much more to the kitchen than what you see there. Theres only maybe two other cabinets you don't see and a wall. The floors are a dark gray and I wasn't planning on changing the cabinets any time in the near future. I'm trying to make it work as much as I can ha. I do have an eclectic and industrial style so I'm ok with it looking kind of funky and mix matched but I want it to at least look cohesive. I was thinking gray back splash, I just don't know what would look best.

Vipbrj suggested white, I was thinking that but I'm not a huge fan of white anything.

    Thanks everyone for input!!!

here's a little wider shot before the grout.

I know a lot of the advice is to wait until I can do it all but it might be years. I don't know if I could stand it. Ha

How about a glass tile, same color as your countertop?

I actually like the back splash you posted... keep in mind finding the right grout color might be tricky - it changes how that looks.. your countertop is Corian and the small 4" splash isn't a cove it is set on - I would risk taking the splash off - it is not that hard to patch sheetrock... go to Corian's website and see which color Scotch bright pads to use in what order and give that counter a major clean - that way you can see its true color - those tops are very durable...just remember that down the line if you do redo the kitchen that tile will probably get taken out - It would be difficult to keep it... I would also suggest new hardware and paint the interior of those glass cabinets something different - draw a color from the tile ... whatever you do just enjoy it and have fun!

    Good luck!

I would not start messing with your backsplash unless you plan on replacing the counters too. Save your money and remodel when you have the funds. The backsplash looks nice with the cabinets. It's the floor that is throwing things off kilter, I'm afraid. Updating just for the sake of updating with newer trends doesn't work unless you have a multi stage well thought out plan.
    Lovely space btw.

New lighting would make a huge difference. Get some LED pot lights installed when you can.

Debbi, I never even thought to paint inside there, I think it would chAngela a lot. Thanks so much
