4 and choose the mortar color VERY carefully! It will completely change the look. I made a mistake by choosing one for the brick in my kitchen that was too red/brown and and now in the tedious process of tinting it to gray. (You can find these products in the Big box stores. )Makes a HUGE difference. Don't underestimate its importance.

Definitely #4 or #5. They have a softer, more even hue than 1 or 2 - which have too much contrast and look a bit industrial for the softer tones on the house. #3 is a bit pale and too perfectly formed. #4 also has a nice, naturally worn texture. If the roof is charcoal, #5 would look terrific.

I would definitely go more grey than any of those choices. Sorry. I just dont care for the red with the grey siding. :(

I would say #5 with a standard gray mortar. It's a nice dark color which will compliment the roof and contrast with the porch. #1 and 2 have a little too much color variation for this application. #3 is nice, but strikes me more as a commercial brick, and #4 would be my second choice. However, I think the whitewash would lend itself better to the darker bricks. Be sure that your whitewash isn't too crazy though or it will dominate the bricks. All fantastic choices though! I would use #5 and would ask the mason to use a grapevine joint for the mortar joints. It will give it a little distressed look.

With all the grey, I think there is a need to tie the grey/charcoal into the brick-as well as having some brownish to tie into the walnut...I cannot tell if any of the examples have greys and tans/browns...If one does..I would go for one like that. I thought 4 or 5 from the pics, as have some others. Hard to tell from pics.

Really like the contrasting colors of 1 or 2, also the most interesting.

We have a 1917 Craftsman and I've looked at a lot of color combinations---both pics of present day interpretations and pics from Arts & Crafts 1900s literature. My impression is that their color combinations are what we would call "matchy-matchy." :) Earth colors and a lot of mid tones---not so many light neutrals as are popular today. For those reasons---and because I like them---I'd go with choice #1. I also really like #4, but I think it's not as "authentic."

If you are doing craftsman, I like #4 with a whitewash.

Well I'm not a fan of the peachy tones but if I was to choose it would be one or two because of the variations in tones

I like #5 because the darker, richer color looks classier.

Sorry, but not feeling it with any....need more gray in the mix of them....plus it's hard to tell from the picture....

All of the elements involved r not pictured...the walnut stain and charcoal roof...these elements are necessary for an informed decision.

1. It has color variations that go with the roof and the contrast is more interesting. 5 just looks dirty/dusty to me.

I like the aged look of #1 which seems to have some gray. Second choice #5 has some gray.

we really need a better picture of the house, as we don't see the roof or the 'walnut'...from what we see I like the idea of a greyish brick shaped stone with some white and browns mixed in to highlight the trim and the 'walnut' and maybe some dark grey if the roof is dark.

They all look so similar.

I agree with Dytecture, close your eyes and point they are so much alike I don't think you would know the difference.

4 if you prefer classic, or 1 if you like something a bit more unique/quirky. I would say not 5- too much red which detracts from the beautiful colour of the exterior :)

To get a traditional Craftsman style: tapered columns (or double columns) which support a porch roof and sit on solid stone piers which extend all the way to the ground. Stone details is an element of craftsman style. Craftsman bungalows feature a mix of materials; siding is typically wooden clapboard (or shingled siding is common), but porch piers and foundations are often made of stone. (Brick, concrete block and stucco are also sometimes used.) but traditionally stone, and stick to the earth-tone color pallet. Opt flagstone or sandstone if $ comps.

I agree with some posters. I would not use brick at all if there is no other brick on te home. It is a philosophy known as "continuity o design".

#5! 1 and 2 have too much contrast, 3 is rather blah, 4 is kind of blah, but would be my 2nd choice.

Most definitely #1 since you have such a neutral palette that you're going with (which is great!). It'd look amazing and give such a rich feeling. I think you really need the variation. I'm imagining this as the whole feel...

This looks like a house in The Heights. If I was forced to choose from these, I would say #4, but I think a natural looking stone might be a more pleasing choice.
