I would do a simple crown. They look like tall cabinets but the ceiling is so high that it suggests you ran out of money or skimped on the job without any molding.

I would do a simple fascia board to give some height and then add a cove crown molding to that.

I would put boxing (like a bulkhead boxing to hide plumbing). Not sure about crown. Your cabinets do not look like they are crying for crown.

Your cabinets do look a little unfinished the way they are now. I agree with what emilyam819 suggested about installing a simple fascia board to give them some height and it should give them a more finished look as well!

Thanks, I like that flat finishing piece idea. The cabinets are 42" and the ceiling is 10 feet. I don't think I like the idea of a bulkhead.

This is a nice kitchen but, yes, the tops of the cabinets look like they end abruptly and need something to finish them off. A simple crown moulding would work OK but might be rather expensive. I'd first play with something easier and less expensive, and that would be some decorations sitting on top of the cabinets. Set some decorations up there that you already own before investing in new things. If that helps, then you can go to buying decorations specifically for the cabinets. You might also try some decorations or additional color on walls and counter tops below the cabinet tops...this would help take the eye away from the cabinet tops.

A 4" crown is pretty large, and you have a very subtle shaker door with contemporary hardware. Without seeing the crown I would ere on the side of a very basic, non ornamental crown suited to the door profile (such as MSB suggested above) or no crown at all.

Lovely kitchen, but the tops looks unfinished, like someone forgot about them. I would suggest a simple crown such as an angle crown or just boxed. I would not build a soffit or a bulkhead to close the space.

Agreed, the 4" flat would be the finishing touch.

After much thought, it looks very contemporary, very loft-like. Leave it like it is.
