When's it painted they will be white and the walls will be a light brown.

Without a pic I would go black, or a really dark blue if that fits into your color scheme. Kelly Moore AC253-5 Dark Knight would be really cool in a satin finish. You don't want to go shinier than satin because of the grain of the oak. White will make the outdated shape stand out more, and it won't match your cabinets. I never recommend brown paint on furniture, it should be either a nice stain or painted something other than brown. Good luck to you!

If you choose white you must be careful with shade. Very bright white will make your carpet look "dirty" .With all those earth tones around I wouldn't go with white.

I agree with Scareltt Fiona's sugestion.

This room below has your wall color and trim color so you can see the final appearance. These are not colors I would select for the main area of a home. Too restrictive in other color selections.

I would paint your built-in Simply White like the trim.

Thanks to all for commenting. I think, at this point, I'll go with matching the built-in to the trim color wich is the whitish color (Swiss Coffee). It's not pure white so hopefully it won't dirty up the carpet color and earth tones. It's too late for me to change the wall color because the painters are half way through our house. The only color that has not been picked yet is the color for the built-in cabinet.
