You decorated it yourself or hired someone? Looks great except I don't understand the art above the flat screen and tub and the art above the bed is too high.

Did it myself. The art above the flat screen is just to help distract from the fact that there's a TV there - and also because the ceilings are 11 feet. Same with the art above the master bed - there's another at least 2 feet of space above the art (the distance from art to ceiling is more than twice the distance between art and bed). So I'm a bit nervous to move them down much. Have considered moving art above TV in living room to above bed (the ones above the bed are super cheap) - just can't decide if living room TV wall is too crowded or not.

Personal opinion, the art above the tv draws your attention to the tv, not the other way around. Seems like an after thought or just filling the space, but the whole room is pretty, so if you love, then keep it!

It doesn't mater how much space you have to the ceiling, the art should be close enough 4-8" to relate to the object it is over. Too far away, it's disconnected. You aren't trying to fill the space.

In contrast, the art above tv seems to be at a okay distance, if you want to keep it there. It does seem a bit too much on that wall and not need to draw your eye away from the tv. But that might be just me.

You also have a mirror next to an abstract. Is it above a console?

Yes very well done. I thought a professional was hired to design these spaces. Did you buy all new furniture, make a story bored and planned everything, paint the walls too, add fixtures??!

It was essentially an empty white box when I bought it - no window treatments, light fixtures or anything. So all the furniture is either from my old house or new :)

Pretty terrific then. Was this your first go at designing? I do like the bit of blue in the art above tv. It balances the orange and warmness in the room. It's starting to grow on me ;) what's important is how you feel about it.

$$$ helps a bit, but without good taste and a discriminating eye, it could still turn out god awful.

Yes I do. It's just a tad too high. I like art to hover around 8" above, but can go up to 10". Ceiling height is negligible. You view things at eye level. When you see the art correctly placed in relation to the object it is over, you will not be able to tell or care about the extra space above it. If you are worried about extra holes you will be making, use command strips to test the placement until you get it right. I'm sure you are a wiz at covering up little holes, if that's required.

If you don't believe me, google height of art above bed or object. Google tells no lies...

"How High / How Low?
As a general rule, the bottom of your frame should hang 8” to 10” above the headboard. If you hang your artwork any higher it will look like it’s floating away from the headboard instead of being connected to it.

Tip: To make centering your artwork easier, mark both the center of your headboard and the middle of the bottom of the frame with a small piece of painter’s tape. Using Hang & Level, lift your frame approximately 8 – 10 inches from the headboard lining up the 2 pieces of tape. Works like a charm!"
