to ink or not to ink

I am renovating my kitchen. cabinets will be white, black pearl granite on counter tops, espresso hickory wood floors stainless steel appliances. I know that glazing cabinets is popular but I do not want an antique look in my kitchen. Can you glaze cabinets without them looking dirty and antique, especially in the cabinet recesses? is all white too stark?

glazing has fallen out of fashion so don't feel obliged. you dont need to go stark white on your cabinets; ours are sea pearl but if anyone looked at my kitchen they would say it's white.

this works especially if you dont have white appliances, they will show more of a contrast. stainless steel appliances will make creamy appear white without being harsh.

no glazing! always looks dirty to me. if you love the look of white kitchens, then you shouldn't be worrying that white is "too stark" -- if you don't, then run away! no honestly, the wood floor and dark cabinets will break up the white plenty. you haven't said whether you prefer a traditional or contemporary/transitional style, but in neither instance do you need to go glazed.

Anyway, if you want to inject a little nonwhiteness, I recommend the backsplash, whether you go grey or tan or a bright accent color.
