BM Revere Pewter would look fantastic!

Love that painting over the FP, but it looks like it's supposed to be hung vertically. It's too wide for over the mantle, but so beautiful in the room. Maybe there's another place to use it.

I would replace your lamps on the chests with buffet lamps. That way everything won't look so shoved into the niche.

Thanks! There's actually a TV over the mantle. There's a large, empty wall behind the sofa. I hang the painting there. Thanks for the help.

There's the TV....we were just holding up the painting to see how it would look over the mantle.

I would bet Farrow and Ball's Lime White Would look beautifully sophisticated...if you like lighter colours. There is just the remotest SUGGESTION of green in that colour...

Otherwise go for broke with a chartreuse...(when I see the upholstery on the one casual chair, it makes me think you'd live it)..

Any suggestions for an unexpected color? Something less "safe"?

Thanks Karen D! The rug is by Safavieh Leopard Paradise Creme Viscose Rug. Overstock carried it at one point but it's out of stock. I lucked up on eBay! Brand new, sealed at a great price.

I forgot to mention that this is an open floor plan. My kitchen is in the middle of the floor and dining room is on the other side. My cabinets are espresso. Should I use the same paint color on both sides?

The second pic is of the dining room. There's a brick wall on one side. This painting is opposite the brick wall.

I also think I should go back to my original drapes. They are champagne like my sofa.

Try a sample first. Revere Pewter sometimes reads as greenish. Yes, go back to the other curtains.

A not so safe colour? I have warm wood floors like you. Painted my living room "India yellow" by farrow and ball three years ago. I love it and haven't regretted it once. Check out their colour scheme links and customer inspirations. They are very helpful when choosing colours.

Okay, I will try a sample. Jeez! Picking a color is difficult. The painting in the dining room is from HomeGoods.

HI -- Your place is wonderful with beautiful things . I think the walls should be Alabaster by Sherwin Williams 7008 . It is a nice soft white that goes with everything. Also think of painting the back of the alcoves black on each side of the fireplace . This will balance the black of the TV and fireplace and show off the mirrors and furniture .

Try Sea Salt by SW or Rainwashed. Be sure to buy a sample and try on several different walls in natural and artificial light.

I agree. The paintings much too large for over the fireplace. Try to find another piece for there and place this one elsewhere in the room if possible.

For the alcoves--since the mirrors and the lamps are the same don't mimic the same for flowers and vase. Do accents on each side. No fake plants or flowers.

What if I scrap the lamps altogether? I asked for junction boxes in the alcoves over the mirrors. The builder installed recess lights in front of the alcoves. My idea was to have pendants in front of the mirrors...I like the idea of a darker paint in the alcoves to make the mirrors stand out.
