Is it happening to the young growth? The leaves do turn yellow and slimy after a while, and then new leaves replace them. At least that's what happens on my garlic chives...

I see that one chive is being replaced, but no the others. And I see these kind of tear drop shaped things on the end of a couple of my chives, do you know if I should cut them of?

The tear drops sound like flower buds.

I also think it is normal ageing. Do you eat them? If you start harvesting regularly leaves will not get a chance to grow old and decline like that.

Yes. I use them in mashed potatoes and shepards pie. I use miracle grow soil to plant it in.
