Help with backsplash color

I have Ikea birch and SS cabinets, light wood countertops, a new red oak floor finished to coordinate with existing dining room fir floor. I love Heath tile in new crystal blue. The little bit of painting the kitchen is blue. Should I go with the Heath or be safe with white, non beveled subway tile?

A photo of your existing space and your possible samples would really help. Despite the surging popularity of it right now, the white subway tile has been a classic for a very long time, and would have a timeless look. However - the fact that you are describing it simply as "safe" makes me feel like you don't love it, and you want to love every detail of your space. The tile will be more permanent like hjmacintosh stated, so if you like to change things up often, I would find something you love in a more neutral color. But if you really like the Heath, go for it!

Hmmm. The blue tile would be a striking feature and you love it. On the other hand it's tough to change tile in future. Any other less permanent features you could make blue, like the stove or light fixtures?

I would do the blue. I looked at it, it is a harmless color. One thing to consider is if the kitchen is visible from other rooms if there could be conflict. Can you get a sample of the tile to try out in your kitchen?

I will l get samples this coming Wednesday. I will be 69 next week and I'm thinking this might be my last kitchen and if the new crystal blue Heath looks good to me fine. If I think it's too much I'll go with the white. I have white subway in my kitchen now and love it. This might be my first win win situation.

I did order the Heath tie in Crystal blue. As soon as it is installed will sent pictures. I'm so excited. Thanks for the support.
