Is the bed gold iron, or is it a brass frame bed?

Actually it is gray with gold. I painted the room a dark green as a decorator told me to but everything looks drab

If you don't like the gold piece in the headboard, why don't you just paint it? I would not be planning my decorating around that small detail that can be easily changed.

That piece might even be screwed on....you night be able to simply remove it. If not, you can certainly paint it so it will be a color closer to the overall bed.
