I would stain them the same lovely wood color as the chairs on the front porch. Adding a bit of natural material will look nice with the stone.

To me, white it looks like trim. Natural more like the stone. Do you want a more suburban look / or country wood..... over-generalizing maybe ? but what are your outdoor accessories like?

Thanks for the ideas. I really don't want to remove it, it was one of my must have pieces:) after viewing my inspiration pictures, yes it should've been wider but I can't change that now. Will keep that in mind for down the road.
My outdoor decor is more transitional. Modern porch furniture, straight lines.
I have been warned that painting will require more maintenance. Just seemed black stain would make it stand out too much. I will consider white stain. And BevFlo I do like your last picture, where the peaks are painted a shade or 2 darker. We've already talked to the builder about that change when we have to paint Ina few years.

If outdoor style has straight lines maybe shiny metal in brights perhaps, then I'd make it white, and let it become part of the "background" trim... does that make sense? :)

Oh I looked again and see the furniture is wood. I changed my mind - why not bring a wood tone over to that part of the house?
