Opinions Needed on shower niche placement

Spa Inspired Bathroom Renovation · More Info

I'm looking for input from anyone that has experience with a Shower Niche in a pony wall like the one in the picture. I am concerned about water getting in there and ease of use. My shower will be 46" wide with the hand held shower on the tall wall and a rainshower overhead. We are leaning towards this layout to hide the niche contents when walking into the room but I would love to hear from someone that has this type of niche if it works for them. Thanks!
