Is there anyway to access the 1/2 bath from the other side of the wall? I think I see a hallway. If not, is that 1/2 bath used much?

I would paint them to match wood tone. While moving doors is not a bad idea, not inexpensive to do.

I like the suggestion about accessing the bath from the hallway if you don't have to move the toilet stack. It would be great to expand the bath if you could or make one a pantry for dishes and another for food. (I did that once and loved having space for my dishes and serving pieces. You could paint them a pretty, darker shade of blue that works with the walls and doesn't contrast as much with the trim. Look for some vintage style metal plate signs that say "Pantry" and "Toilet" or something too.

Why don't you paint them with chalkboard paint? You can write your grocery list, a menu or whatever.

Get wood doors that match the trim. They should blend in with the rest of the kitchen cabinets. I would somehow mark the bathroom door for guests.

Good idea to relocate the powder room door, this would best solve not only the unusual side by side doors, but; the proximity of food/fridge to a bathroom. I would absolutely give up part of the pantry to gain a different entrance to the powder. For an immediate, low cost, quick fix, replace or paint the doors same as trim.

This arrangement is strange, and if budget can handle it, it would be really good to get that bathroom entry changed, if physically possible. Eww! Bad layout. At least put little cute sign on the door so people go in the right door! One for each door! "Reading room" (for powder) "Pantry Place" Something creative. It's late, my creative juices are thin! lol

Half bath next to the fridge?? Maybe you could pick a color that won't contrast with the wall color so much. Make the doors look like they're barely there. Just a suggestion.

What a strange layout. Who wants a bathroom in the middle of the kitchen??? Definitely move the entrance to the bathroom and then close this one in.

Thanks all for the suggestions! It's a narrow row house so I think they just squeezed the bathroom in where they could. I definitely hate that it's by the fridge! I'm going to look into removing that closet and both doors and put a door on the corner instead. The only issue is that corner is the stair landing and I know building codes require the landing to be a certain length. Not sure if I can move the landing back more or not. If that doesn't work, I might just remove the closet and make that door the entry to the powder room. At least that way it isn't AS close to the fridge. Then, I could just seal up the wall there by the fridge and there's only be one door in the room. I'd lose closet space but I don't have much stored in there anyway. Although for resale, losing the space might be bad. Thanks so much! I'll post before after a if I can do it!

i have the powder room door into my kitchen as well; the previous owner added it (1870 house) and it was this way or nothing.

not ideal, and perhaps a deal breaker for some, but it is what it is.

friends invited for dinner are free to use the bathroom on the second floor landing. when its a large party i'm not cooking anyway.
