Opinion on hanging island pendant lighting at staggered heights

What are your thoughts of hanging pendant lights over an island at different heights? We have a 12 foot long island by 5'2" wide. There are 4 lights that are 12" wide by 18.5" high.

My husband would like to hang the middle two a little lower than the outer two. The J-boxes in the ceiling are evenly spanned across the island due to its size. How do you think this would look visually as opposed to hanging all four evenly? I think all four hung evenly will look best visually.

The egg shpe lights should be hung at the same height. That fixture is available in 3 different sizes.

Here's how two of the fixtures appear on a much shorter island. Keep them about 32" above the height of your counter.

Your pendants are very large! Given that, I'd recommend hanging all at 1 level, with the caveat that the best way to decide will be a dry run onsite.

I just read your comment to my husband and he is good with evenly. My husband likes the size of them, but I still think we could have gone smaller.

Do you have a photo of the pendants you're considering?

Personally, I like the look of pendants hung at an even height. But here are a few examples I saw here on Houzz of pendants hung at various heights (just for visualization purposes) - with the 4th photo being most similar to what your husband is thinking of, I think.

I really am concerned about the size. I do like the last picture and that is what he was thinking, but reversed with the longer in the middle. Because we have our sink in the island, if he did go ahead with the stagger, he would definitely want to raise the middle 2 and lower the 2 on either end. Will you please take a peek at the lights and let me know your thoughts on whether they would look good with the last picture staggered configuration? I would sincerely appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi Jennifer, we have to go with 4 of the same as the J-boxes are installed already. We could have them redone, but it would add to our budget. I can definitely see 3 larger though. as the 4 under island brackets are spaced to be able to hang them perfectly. Thank you!
