Just got the sectional you see and rearranged some of the living room furniture. the current rug is 6x9 and natural fiber... But I think it's not really practical with a small child who spends most of their time on the floor! So scratchy!

Anyway, I would like to get a new rug but I'm not sure what size to get. I would extend it to the television but the fireplace hearth is in the way. Should I get maybe an 8x10?

Also any suggestions on color/pattern? The room is a blank slate pretty much right now. Im also going to be taking out the coffee table and putting in a big yet-to-be-purchased square ottoman.
