Yes, I believe so. The Ball Blue Book recipe is virtually the same recipe and allows for both pints and quarts. The processing time for quarts in a BWB would be 10 minutes at altitude under 1000'.

For your future reference - the safety guideline is that you can always use smaller jars than called for in the recipe but you can never use larger jars than stipulated in the recipe. In other words it is the recipe that determines the jar size used.

So when wanting to use larger jars for some reason you have to find a recipe that allows for them IF it exists and provides the processing time for them.

In this specific case such a recipe exists and Jack found it for you. In the BBB recipe the proportions are different and the processing time is longer but the ratios are the same.

Good point Dave...I should have clarified that it was specific to this recipe to use either jar size. Strange that the BBB recipe specifies 10 minutes processing time for both pints and quarts while NCHFP says 5 minutes for pints.

The NCHFP calls for using sterilized jars whereas the recipe in the BBB just says the jars need to be hot. Any recipe that is processed for 10 minutes or more doesn't need to use sterilized jars. BBB probably just extended the processing time the extra 5 minutes to avoid the sterilizing step.
