As said before, you can put more plates on the top shelf. The plates can repeat the colors you have there already - red, yellow, dark blue.

Coming along
First remove the picture on the top part. You need to be strict about sticking to one theme. Move the white vase on the box where the doll is. Move the doll to the other side: So you have a series of ceramics from tallest to smallest from the left side and then the doll on is own on the right side (please find more plates eventually)
Keep the box on its own centered on the top box
Middle box push the vases closer together
Bottom, add the picture on the top shelf in front of the others on the bottom box.

The box and the photo just do not work. Leave it on its own until you find something better to place in there.
The photos: The largest photo is at the back, the landscape photo next and the small photo in front. Move the tall photo as far to the back, the landscape close to it, and the other two as far forward as possible. If it is too much remove one small picture

I say this to make contrast because everything in a single color is dark, there is no color...

Put the plates together on the diagonal on one side middle shelf, candlestick holders on the next upper shelf. Maybe put one of those pic frames on the same shelf as the candles. It depends. Try it out. Greens are good natural colors. you might want to change the hardware too for a little more personality. ...a more ornate pull and knob. Good Luck.

I'd add some ornamental knobs--like vintage (or vintage-looking!) glass knobs. Something with color would really update the piece and add some brightness to it.

I have some of that, such vases are that style, and also the box but I think that color is missing...So said add gems to the vases...or change them... but would it look good no messy...

What about getting rid of the bottom middle door? You want to create a focal point but, yet keep the eye so that it's not moving around too much. I'm distracted by the items in the frosted glass cabinets. Use some wicker baskets?

Plates are all the same height.....picture frames too big....

I would remove the bottom doors and place wicker baskets. You need to create a flow, a point of interest where eye will flow in a natural way. There's too much going that's not creating a flow.... my eye doesn't know where or when to stop. One person said update the knobs, or spray paint them. Is this piece a built in? And can you put items on the top shelf?

This furniture is made of wood, and as you say it is remodeled because he didn't have a way...before apparently (came with the property) was for the tv...

too many plates. put some greenery hanging out of the top vase. put new hardware. pop it with some color and personality...and put something on the top. Its empty there.

Hello, would you consider painting the complete unit cream altogether & remove all the photo frames, they just don't look right visually, no matter where you arrange them on the unit, so I would consider re-homing them, also a previous poster mentioned baskets, I would actually get some for inside those frosted doors, as regards the rest of the shelves, I think one item per shelf is plenty, sometimes "less is more" and your plates will look a lot nicer and be appreciated more if they have their own space.

I see you refinished it. The first photo you posted is much better quality. It looks very nice. the items you have are dated. Put more updated accessories and you'll be fine. Like I said before, put some green hanging vines and put it in the vessel/vase and put on the highest shelf....top of unit.

The last posted photo looks nice, but I'd still remove the photos & choose just one item per shelf

Would you consider taking everything off unit & just put the nice white & brown vase in the middle of the top shelf with just one plate on either side, nothing else, then on the next shelf down put the red doll ornament, choose one photo for next shelf down, perhaps the big portrait photo (children & a bike) & then on final bottom shelf just put the brown/silver cup/trophy on its own & just put the other bits away, & get some plain baskets inside the glass doors. I think that might be a nice look.

I do not think, I think that as it has finally been it looks good, I'm not very sure in lowering the wrist because I've tried it earlier (I think I put photo) and the truth is not good...
