Identify marine plywood

Hello all. We are having our kitchen done at a local carpenter. His work is very nice, however he's known to rip people off as far as material goes. We opted for marine plywood and asked him not to spray paint it before we go see it. We went to see it yesterday, and he did spray paint some of the parts. Is there anyway for us to tell if it's marine plywood or not? Please help as this kitchen is costing us quite a few bucks and it would be unfair to pay him for some cheap alternative. In the US, it is hard enough to identify marine grade plywood when it is unpainted. I am unsure how you would do so one it has been sprayed.

Marine grade plywood is a specially designed product with highly restrictive limitations on core gaps and face repairs and is hard to come by in some places.

Very hard to identify by looking at it, you have to look at the manufacturer's stamp (trade mark), they have it on all panels. Something like this one.

It should be stamped as such and why would you hire someone you already know rips people off.

Thank you all for your input. The reason why we went with this guy is that we live in Malta which is a tiny island in Europe and unfortunately we don't have much of a choice when it comes to carpenters. He did our doors and we love them so we ended up ordering the kitchen too. Aesthetically we have no complaints whatsoever, however when it comes to prices it's a different story.
