Do you have any photos? My first thought was to google "shipping container homes" as it seems to me that, as an artist, you want an open, contemporary space. Will there be a new bathroom? Will the plumbing stay in place? Do you want your bedroom to be separate, or more of a loft feeling with a half wall? New windows for light?

I would do a "wall" of kitchen cabinets...(pretend the half wall is your actual wall....)

thank you what a fab way to go! It really is the same shape as a container and just why didn't I think of that? lol My biggest challenge would be the furnace. In the white kitchen it would be where the first supporting beam is. Too costly to move. I'll try and post some photos, but they don't really show the whole scheme as in a drawing. Thanks again. :)

I suggest poking around your local habitat for humanity re-store.

Also go on the Ikea website and use their kitchen planner tool (even if you don't plan on buying their cabs....however Ikea IS fantastic as they seem to be able to make every inch of space usable).

So you basically have open space at each end with bathroom and kitchen in the center? Do either of the ends have windows? If not you could do a wall of closets/storage on that end...once again, the Ikea PAX closet system is very nice...and you wouldn't need a dresser and any of it could be left open for art supplies:

It IS very possible to do things on a shoestring budget...

depending on head room. you could have a rack type thing that attaches to ceiling then flips down away from work area.(sort of like a wall) with all your gadgets housed in it.

Right! I forgot to mention ceilings are 8ft. Flat tar roof. Windows all over the place especially the front. Big Bay window takes up the whole front . Two large windows one on each side of the living room. Great light! but rotten view. lol then one on each side of the kitchen two in the hallway and two in the bedroom. The middle bit for the studio has two. Hardly any space for hanging art..so I am going to eliminate at least one window. In the kitchen I think.

Ikea is definitely the way to go. You can get it organized and make max use of vertical spaces. For really cheap if you put it together yourself. Then hire someone to hang the cabinet pieces. Especially in a mobile home, make sure the walls and studs can bear the weight.

I love the idea of the Ikea planner. I'm definitely going that way somewhat. Ikea is about a 10 hour drive from here south...lol It will have to be before the snow flies! but a trip would be the way to go...

Have you considered making the front area where the bay window is the kitchen/living area? I assume that the original hallway went down the back side of the trailer. If so, just flip it. I would open up the back end and make it the studio area. Since the view out the front isn't good, install some type of outdoor screening to include an outdoor living area. If you want to have a front entrance to the studio area, close off the back door and install a new one on the front side. I would look at several tiny/small house and box car home layouts for ideas.
