I agree with the canvas awning. They are available in a wide selection of colors.

Add shutters to your front door. (the same color as other shutters) Paint all downspouts the same color as your shingles.

Add some foundation shrubs on front and sides of your house. Plant a small tree in the right hand corner of your front yard. Its a charming house. Do you need the fence? and if you do, is it possible to upgrade to something more attractive, a picket fence for instance.

Any other ideas?

You could add an actual gabled porch roof, which continues the line of your roof and extends over the entry, replacing part of your current railing with wooden supports. I might also run a trellis up the left side of the house, where the wall is a bit bare, and remove the tiny strip shutters on the large window on the right. You could do more with plantings...

Do you need the fence?

The fence is ugly but I live close to a school to it just adds some security from Highschool kids. I have thought about doing a picket fence instead. I do have bushes planted - they havent grown very high yet. I like the trellis idea, what plant would you plant there to grow up it?
