Is the location of the table in the bottom picture, the "dining room?" Can we have a proper view of that room?

I do not like the color on the bar. It is actually gray and is casting off bad colors depending on the lighting coming in during the day. Here is the dining room. The whole area is an open floor plan with a great room off the dining room. Here is the dining room picture.

Have you tried the butterscotch from the dining room in the kitchen? I agree the grey paint isn't working.

I have not tried that color in the kitchen. what would you suggest for the front of the bar? Would you recommend any other wall color that would compliment the dining area? What color would you paint the dining room table and chairs?

not particularly. It has a lot of wear to it. I did think of painting it but it would then show all the years of distress. The ceiling in the great room/dining room is also vaulted and paneled in the same pine.

The higher the gloss in the paint, the more it shows gouges. Deeper ones can be filled before painting.

In a great room with kitchen, I am a fan on using one wall color throughout all adjoining open rooms. You can try the butterscotch in the kitchen- However, I really think that butterscotch (at least as it is showing up in the pics) is too dark and similar in color to all the cabinets and floor- and doesn't work with the white trim. So I would paint all the walls a lighter tan color as in the next photo:

or you could paint the cabinets in a white (just throwing it out there!)

Do you think painting the cupboards would be the best idea? I love the look of the first picture you posted of mine. I sould take a of the great room in the morning so you can get the full view of everything.

How about sherwin williams softer tan for all walls and dover white for the trim. I personally have a very similar kitchen cabinet, floor, and countertop color scheme to yours (I can't convince myself to paint the cabinets), and those two wall colors look good against my kitchen. It will look like the walls in the first picture I posted above, and the trim will look better than your current white one because dover white has beige undertones.

Don't paint your cabinets. I don't think white would look good with the dark green, also, your cabinets are nice.

brown wood and brown paint don't look good together. personally I feel painting the walls a bright white and leaving the kitchen cupboards the way they are would be pretty. also pine isn't a wood that looks good mixed with a lot of different finishes so get a pine table and chairs maybe.

It is way too bright for our taste and doesn't seem to go with the rest of the house. I do love the look of white kitchen, tho! It's just not working here with the rest of the rooms.

I think painting the kitchen the same color as the rest of your house is a good idea. Your great room has beautiful architectural detail and the furniture is very unique and eclectic, so it isn't lacking in visual interest. The wooden cupboards are very cozy looking and make the room look warm and a bit rustic . a pop of color is just going to look like too much in the room. Painting them would take away a very beautiful element to the house.

The bar might look nice in the butterscotch color.
