I just wanted to say that you should trust your own judgement. You have made some nice choices and seem to know exactly what you and your wife like. It is great to get opinions from people on houzz, which may help you see things in a different way, or give you an idea you hadn't thought of, but sometimes you will get really bad advice, and all people have different styles that may not match yours. So use what is helpful to you and disregard the rest. Don't second guess your choices or sell things you already have that you like and that work for you.

This mirrored console table would also work with the hammered coffee table. Whichever one you choose don't forget to measure as you have doors opening into the space.

Good morning, sorry for the delay in responding. I fell asleep last night and didn't wake up till midnight then got in the bed and went back to sleep. I'm recovering from surgery so thats all I want to do lately!! Haha. Anyway, I love the nesting tables and the console you pictured from the store together. The nesting tables look more elegant so I think your wife would really like them. If you get the console those lamps they have on them look awesome too!!! I agree with Cali, you have great taste & know what y'all like!!!

I hope you recover quickly Tammy! I like the base of the console table Laura posted but for some reason I don't like the look of a sheet of glass sitting on top rather than incorporated into the piece.

Hey man...judging that you're probably in the Toronto area I recommend you look at Artemano and EQ3. Artemano especially may be the right place to find a coffee table and other accessories for your place. EQ3 is a little more contemporary but you might like some of their more rustic things. Enjoy!

Im on Vancouver Island. Selection is a bit limited. I checked out Artemano website and it is not my style at all plus they got a 1.8 star rating so I wouldn't be confident to order through them and get something shipped. Thanks for the suggestion though.

mbruce - I have to agree with your wife. Black granite is very dated. The stone you have on your counters now is beautiful and current.

I like the idea of the floating shelves in the niche and a mirror behind them would be awesome!

Cuff coffee table has been ordered and comes October 25th. In the end saved over $500 by ordering on Wayfair vs. local store. I'm going to hold off on console table/ bar until my wife gets home.

Cuff table is a great, stylish choice & you should be very pleased with yourself - also a great pickup price wise!!! I am still a little concerned that the ivory flokati is sucking the life out of the room & may not give you & your wife the "wow factor" you are both seeking. In the end it is your decision totally & I respect it however to demonstrate what I mean I have put together some mockups to show you the difference some colour/pattern would make to the area. These rugs were chosen at random & I am not in any way suggesting that they are the right ones for the area. Just focus on what an injection of colour does.

PS If you decide to explore any alternative rugs, United Floors in Victoria seems to have a good range.

Wife got home yesterday and is very happy with everything but especially the dining light. She is looking forward to getting the coffee table in 3 weeks. Allanaspree we had a rug similar to ones you posted and they looked busy...here was one I tried earlier in the thread. BTW my wife said to thank everybody for helping me out..she is impressed.

You are not including your fireplace in the living room. Bring the sofa to the left of the fireplace, centered facing the bay window. It is low enough that it doesn't block the view between the living room and the dining area. The loveseat is very different from the sofa...can you use it in the playroom/sunroom? You need two comfortable chairs that will work with the sofa fabric. Place those chairs facing the fireplace wall with a side table between them, leaving space to walk around them into the living room. Measure the new conver- station area from hearth to chairs and from sofa to the window seat. Add 2' to each measurement and buy a rug of those measurements which plays well with the sofa and the new chairs. Lay the rug from the hearth to halfway under the chairs, and halfway under the sofa toward the window. That is the beginning of your decorating lesson. Take some time to do the rest. Post pix for further help.

Sorry everyone this rug was purchased a long time ago and was returned way back then.. We hated the rug it made the room feel busy and not luxurious. The flokatai was inexpensive so down the road we may replace it but for now we quite like it. The goal is to get things that we can make the room look different by changing accessories or paint color of accent wall. My wife likes to change things up at least once a year so neutrals for big pieces are best. Still waiting on the coffee table...couple more weeks. In the meantime still deciding on bar or console table for entry and art for wall behind couch. Any thoughts on metal art vs framed pic?

Time for the bedroom to make some progress...I'm not sure if I should do a new thread or post under this one seeing everyone here is awesome so I'll post here for now...Here is where we are at...and yes the blinds are in the bedroom too lol.

To the right of the white night stand the white wall has a door leading into a large walk in closet so a dresser isn't needed. The white nightstand has had better days so will be replaced. The bed is king size upholstered velvet in a color called buckwheat. The bedding can all go as well. Wall color is Newbury port blue.

Forgot to mention wife likes gold and seeing I didn't go gold in living area maybe gold may work in bedroom.

While I love that blue color, it does not work with your headboard upholstery. If you are planning to keep the bed, I think you need to change the color of the wall.

I'll have to agree with the above comment about the blue wall. A pretty deep taupe with a candlelight glaze over it would be nice. The candlelight glaze is a Ralph Lauren product and can be bought at Home Depot. It adds a soft sheen to the walls, giving them the appearance similar to a candle glow. Very pretty in bedrooms or dining rooms. One of these would look nice to paint the wall behind the headboard or the whole room. I'm not a big fan of accent walls but if you like them that's what counts.

Mbruce I saw this and I thought about your living room. It would look great on your new cuff table and what a statement!!! Or a beautiful orchid would look nice too and add some color.

Wife loves it but she is going to find art for above the sofa today and some accessories too. Plan for today is to get vent painted....wife is doing it because it's taking me too long to get the job done. I'll post pics when she gets home with accessories.

Back to the bedroom this is where we got the idea of the blue paint in the bedroom and then carried to a wall in living room.

Does anyone who suggested painting the vent have suggestions how to get the paint to stick to the metal vent...wife isn't very happy about my seuggestion to paint the vent because the paint won't stick and it looks terrible...

Go to Home Depot or somewhere like that and buy Rustoleum metal primer. It comes in a spray paint can. Do two coats of this on it and then 2-3 coats of the paint. It will look great and the primer helps the paint stick better.

All she got today was a picture...the vent did get painted too. Pear on coffee table is not staying so ignore it

Well I lost the battle in the bedroom...I wanted blue bedding here is what we got. Also a couple panoramics of the main area. Night stands still have to go and some art has to go over bed...possibly a chair in corner.

You can always bring out the blue in the comforter in the bed by getting a blue throw to accent. for a modern space the throws now are tucked as well and can cover 1/2, 1/3, 2/3, 3/4 depending on the balance of the rest of the design. You can go for a navy or royal quilted spread in a monotone to keep it simple and clean. Just an idea. A modern piece of art above the bed will continue to make your statement and extend your personality in the room.

I really like the teal pillows on your new chairs in the living room. Could you tell me where those are from.

My wife and I are replacing the couch and figured we would see what everyone on here comes up with. We are open to L sofa or sofa and new chairs. Would like to spend less than $2500 on sofa. Also want to switch out carpet. Here is a picture for a refresher of the room.

I've always wondered why there was no discussion of the brown sofa. The style is OK, but the color and fabric feel heavy and oppressive, the last thing this over-upholstered room needs. Glad to see the cumbrous candlesticks moved off the dining table. I also have been perplexed by a man willing to spend as much as six thousand dollars on a piece of Horchow furniture who chooses to seek help from amateurs rather than pay an interior design pro.
