Need Intermediary advice for "modern landscaping"

last modified: 10 years ago

We are slowly bringing back a 1960 house in Sarasota and I just had these huge awful schrubs removed which just revealed stucco peeling. We're not painting/restucco until later in the fall/winter but wanted to find an inexpensive way to cover the 'bad spots', put some low voltage lighting and find what to put on the ground around the plantings. Mulch works but is shell too cheap looking? We need minimalist plants with as little maintenance needed. My husband just moved some grass bunches where the hedges are....do we just do that for now? HELP! (and yes, the front door needs to be redone and the drive way...)
